About Us
Formed in 1998 by Miss Minati Chaterjee, 'Anandamayee Art Centre' is a dance academy where students get a chance to learn, to feel and to experience the dance form Bharatanatyam mainly. This academy provides the classical dance form Bharatanatyam and Rabindra Nritya dance form. Our aim is to continue 'Drupadi Sanskriti' of India and spread its importance among people. We try to continue Bharatanatyam,the traditional dance form of India, with the help of our dancers and spread this form with the help of them.
Our dance teacher Ajanta Dey Chaterjee was a former student of 'Prabir Ghoshal' who taught her creative dance style for 5 years and she was also a former student of Guru Jagannath Mishra who taught her Katthak , another classical dance form of India. She joined 'Kalamandalam', a dance academy, conducted by Guru Thankamani Kutty and Guru Govindan Kutty for learning Bharatanatyam dance form. She got teachers' training in dance from 'Kalamandalam'.
'Anandamayee Art Centre' was handed over to our respectful teacher 'Ajanta Dey Chaterjee' by her aunt Miss Minati Chaterjee,with whom our teacher entered into this dance world, in 2010. The age of our academy is near about 22 years since 1998. This academy is under 'Sarbabharatiya Sangeet O Sanskriti Parishad'. The students are to be certified by 'Sarbabharatiya Sangeet O Sanskriti Parishad' at the end of each year of this seven years' course. This dance academy focuses on strengthening students' clarity and their base on dance ( Bharatanatyam mainly) and helps the students to build a career in dance.
